This new mastered album contains twenty songs that are available as MP3 files for download, so now all Mac-users can access the music. The price per album is € 15 with a free real-tone and € 0.99 per song.
Milan, ITALY July 30, 2005 -- Grammy Winning artist Sananda Maitreya releases his finished and mastered album "Angels & Vampires - Volume I". From May 2004 till May 2005 Sananda gradually released the rough versions of the songs in Chapters on his website, with the music download service WeedShare, which allows file-sharers to participate in the distribution and earn money from it with a share in the sales up to 35%.
The mastered version of the Album is now available, also for Mac-users, to download as single songs or as full album.
Sananda first announced "Angels & Vampires" as his follow-up project to his last release "WildCard – The Jokers' Edition" in 2001.
Maitreya about the project: "Angels & Vampires relies quite heavily for its musical support from the four basic food groups of live music: real drums, bass, guitar and keyboards and went with a more intimate and organic sound in order to reintroduce sonic sub tones back into the bodies energy matrix long weakened by compressed digital overload and its over emphasis. Sonic sub tones help to bolster the bodies electromagnetic and sense of overall wellbeing. Angels & Vampires also sought to create a sound base which would provide more emotional space in which the songs might breathe and feel less constricted. I felt that the WildCard project was a little too "studio-orientated", but was what the time and circumstances required. With this project, I wanted it to be less about the studio and more about me and the songs”.
The term he uses to describe this new music and more organic approach is:
POST MILLENIUM ROCK.
All songs are written, arranged, produced and performed by Sananda Maitreya, except for "Angie" which is written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.
The project was recorded at Jungle Sound Station Milano and mastered at Nautilus Mastering Studios in Milano – Italy.
There are no plans for traditional CD distribution, each customer will be able to download the CD cover and the Booklet from the website.
"Angels & Vampires - Volume I" is Sananda's 6th project after the release of:
* 2001/2003 "WildCard -The Jokers' Edition"
* 1995 "Vibrator"
* 1993 "Symphony Or Damn"
* 1989 "Neither Fish Nor Flesh"

AIRVISION's AV CAPITAL Division Announces Investment in Shared Media Licensing
Weed, the system Sananda Maitreya uses to distribute his music, receives an investment from AIRVISION.
Released at Business Wire
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2004--AIRVISION, a leading provider of direct-to-consumer brand positioning and strategic business growth planning, today announced an investment in Shared Media Licensing, Inc. Shared Media Licensing is the Seattle-based company which developed Weed(SM) www.weedshare.com, the revolutionary and file-sharing service for managing the distribution of music and other digital content via the Internet.
Weed(SM) was created by a group of musicians and software developers as a solution to the challenges of file-sharing on the Internet. Weed(SM) encourages file-sharing and makes payments to musicians while at the same time rewarding file-traders who respect artists' rights. To date, more than 7,000 musical artists have had their music "Weedified" including Chuck D, Heart, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Built to Spill, Kristin Hersh and many others.
"We believe Shared Media Licensing and their Weed(SM) file-sharing technology represent the future of music file-sharing on the Internet," said Arthur Rubinfeld, President and Founder of AIRVISION. "They have an innovative business model that is rapidly gaining widespread acceptance among many of the world's top musicians and their fans. Weed has solved the problem with Internet file sharing in a revolutionary way which we believe will capture the imagination of other businesses on the Internet."
Online auction giant eBay recently selected Weed(SM) to join a ground-breaking digital music download initiative. eBay has launched a new "store" for digital music downloads and is hosting Shared Media Licensing's Weed technology, the only system that enables music buyers to earn cash by sharing music files. eBay's 150 million-plus users will be able to use a breakthrough system that tracks music files so that the person who shares a music file, along with the rightsholder, is paid a percentage every time the file is shared with a person who buys it.
"We are extremely pleased to have the support and funding from AIRVISION's AV CAPITAL group," said John Beezer, President of Shared Media Licensing. "The involvement of AV CAPITAL allows us to move ahead rapidly in software development, marketing, and content acquisition. AIRVISION's expertise in consumer psychology and brand development is key to our growth going forward."

Fair Is Fair: File Sharing Growing Like a Weed
Weed, the system Sananda uses to distribute his music, got featured on Wired.com!
By Katie Dean
"While the music industry attempts to shutter peer-to-peer services in court and in Congress, one company is using P2P networks to promote and pay artists.
Shared Media Licensing, based in Seattle, offers Weed, a software program that allows interested music fans to download a song and play it three times for free. They are prompted to pay for the "Weed file" the fourth time. Songs cost about a dollar and can be burned to an unlimited number of CDs, passed around on file-sharing networks and posted to web pages.
"We're trying to take the problem of unauthorized music sharing and turn it into an opportunity for everyone to participate in the music business," said John Beezer, president of Shared Media Licensing. In addition to launching its home website, the company recently joined eBay's digital music distribution program with its own store.
Each time the song is downloaded by a new listener, the Weed file resets itself so the same rules apply: three free plays, then pay. The music can also be transferred to Windows portable media devices.
Shared Media Licensing makes the Weed purchasing software and channels the money to the artists and distributors. Over 100 independent content providers find the music, clear the rights, manage the files and promote the distribution and sales on their own websites.
Weed also encourages sharing by awarding a commission to people who pass the songs on to friends who then buy it. The copyright owner always gets 50 percent of each sale. Weed gets 15 percent for service and software costs. The fan who passes the music along gets 20 percent of the sale if a friend buys the track."
